Susie is named after my mother, Sue. The original complete sharpening kit was made for her, so the flagship remains the most complete system in the family—five plates, a storage base and a buffalo-hide strop kept together in one kit.

The base provides knuckle clearance above the table. Placing it on a damp paper towel helps resist sliding so the second hand is not needed to hold the system.
